VOTIVA in CHICAGO, IL

Votiva is a non-surgical approach to treating issues with the vagina using a radiofrequency device. As women age, they experience issues and concerns associated with vaginal dryness, laxity, and stress urinary incontinence. In the past, these issues were often met with a surgical approach and for many women, this was not a viable choice. Votiva is a bipolar radiofrequency device that uses thermal energy for female rejuvenation. The procedure helps increase blood flow, builds collagen and can also have a tightening effect.

Dr. Sameea Chughtai is a leading doctor in women’s health. With years of experience and understanding the concerns from her patients, Dr. Sameea has sought a treatment with a non-surgical approach. Votiva offers that with minimal invasiveness and little to no downtime.

Treatments usually consist of 3 monthly treatments and maintenance every 6-12 months. However, this can vary based on individual responses.

HOW DOES VOTIVA WORK?

Votiva uses RF energy to help heat the tissue of the vagina. This helps stimulate collagen production and helps improve the blood flow in the area. The energy allows the vagina to contract and tighten, improving appearance and elasticity. The energy of the device is regulated with a temperature sensor to ensure a safe, effective treatment.

During this treatment our providers will use a handheld device with two applicators, Forma V and Fractora, to treat both internal and external issues with the vagina.

FORMA V

Forma V is designed to help treat the external appearance of the vagina, such as the labia and vulva. It is also used to help treat the internal vaginal canal. The gentle radio frequency energy helps promote tightening and strengthening of the area. This improves the overall appearance of the vagina and also urinary incontinence.

FRACTORA V

Fractora V uses a down to top approach by sending radiofrequency into the deeper layers through micro-needles. The micro-abrasions signal the body to heal while the radiofrequency energy helps promote production of collagen, which improves laxity, tone, and texture.

SYMPTOMS THAT CAN BE TREATED USING VOTIVA

STRESS URINARY INCONTINENCE

Stress Urinary Incontinence occurs as women age. The loss of supporting tissue to maintain bladder control can cause leakage when they laugh, sneeze or cough. In the past, women only had the option of surgically placing a mesh to help treat this problem, and many would just suffer with this problem to avoid surgery all together.  By using the radio frequency technology of Votiva, women  have the non-surgical option to help treat symptoms of Stress Urinary Incontinence.

Votiva is non-invasive meaning that this treatment is a non-surgical approach that uses radiofrequency energy to help stimulate collagen production. The energy also helps strengthen the pelvic floor muscles which helps reduce involuntary leakage.

VAGINAL LAXITY

Vaginal Laxity is a condition that occurs after the vagina experiences traumas which includes childbirth or  the body’s natural decrease in hormones. This causes the supporting structures to become loose, causing a decrease in sensation and pleasure in the area, which can lead to a great deal of frustration not just for the patient, but also her partner. In the past, treatment for Vaginal Laxity was very limited.

While surgery can help treat the outer portion of the vagina, it can not help the internal portion. With the help of Votiva and its radio frequency technology, the inner portion of the vagina can be treated as well as the outer portion.

Votiva will use radiofrequency energy (Fractora V)  in combination with thermal heating (Forma V) to help stimulate tightening and collagen production. This also helps increase sensation in the area as well as decrease dryness and discomfort.

OUTER APPEARANCE OF THE VAGINA

A common complaint from our patients is issues with the overall outer appearance of the vagina. One option patients have is to have surgery to reduce this appearance, but some do not choose this option  due to either still wanting to have children or the invasive nature of having this type of surgery. Another option patients have is the use of CO2 lasers or radio frequency technology such Votiva. These types of procedures are non-invasive and help increase blood flow into the area, making the area aesthetically pleasing to the patient.

How Votiva works in improving the overall outer appearance of the vagina is it helps tighten and firm up the skin. This helps improve our patient’s confidence with their appearance and helps with any discomfort that the patient may feel during sexual intercourse.

OPTION TO HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY

Hormone Replacement Therapies have been the main option for patients who have been dealing with menopausal symptoms. These symptoms include:

– Loss of Estrogen
-Dryness
-Vaginal Laxity
-Decreased Sensation

However, the use of hormone replacement therapy has side effects that make women ineligible to take HRT. HRT also puts women at higher risk for blood clotting, heart disease, and stroke. Also, women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer are often advised to not have HRT as it can increase the chance for breast cancer to grow.  Votiva is a non-hormonal option to help treat symptoms of menopause without the side effects of Hormone Replacement Therapy.

VOTIVA AS AN OPTION TO VAGINOPLASTY SURGERY

Treating vaginal issues such as appearance, SUI, etc. had only one option and that being surgery. Controversially, a pelvic mesh would be inserted but caused many issues with many female patients with long periods of recovery, if at all. This would make anyone nervous and believe that it would be best to not seek treatment at all.

Votiva provides a non-surgical treatment option that addresses these issues. Through the use of bipolar radio frequency, Votiva allows the increase of blood flow and collagen production inside and outside the vagina. This helps improve the outer appearance of the vagina along with strengthening and helping restore tightness on the inside without the placement of foreign objects that the body would reject.
